Ted Bililies, Ph.D. is a Managing Director at AlixPartners, the global head of the Leadership & Organizational Effectiveness community, and the firm’s first Chief Talent Officer (CTO). Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness works with boards, investors and CEOs to create value through people. As CTO, Ted has the additional responsibility of bringing strategic insight and innovation to meet the challenges of sourcing, selecting, developing, deploying, and evaluating the best senior-level talent throughout the AlixPartners organization. Ted joined the Boston, MA office in 2013. For more than 20 years, Ted was a trusted advisor and master coach to hundreds of CEOs, other senior executives, founders, investors, and boards of directors and has advised dozens of global organizations such as the World Bank, Credit Suisse, Putnam Investments, Fidelity Investments, Johnson & Johnson, and State Street Corporation, as well as preeminent private-equity and alternative-asset management firms such as Apax Partners, Bain Capital, Blackstone Group, Carlyle Group, CVC Capital Partners, Goldman Sachs, Icahn Associates, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, Perella Weinberg Partners, Pershing Square Capital Management, and Vornado Realty Trust. Ted has worked with senior leaders on their toughest talent issues, including how to assess, align, and develop talent in their top teams; how to select and develop the next generation of an organization’s leadership; and how to leverage talent strategically so as to position organizations for maximum profitability and financial success. Building on his early training and residency as a clinical psychologist at Harvard University, Ted has helped global leaders achieve enduring change in their organizations, in their teams, and in themselves by expanding their psychological, behavioral, and organizational intelligence and insight. Prior to joining AlixPartners, Ted was a partner and top producer for 10 years at ghSMART & Co., a leading CEO-assessment firm. Earlier, he was founder and general managing partner of the Boston office of Personnel Decisions International, a leading talent-management consulting firm, and first head of executive and organizational development at global asset-management firm State Street Corp. Ted has a PhD and a Master of Arts in clinical psychology from Loyola University Chicago and is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard College. He is a former clinical instructor at McLean Hospital and has held teaching appointments at Harvard Medical School, Harvard Business School, the Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and Harvard Extension School. He led the leadership development segment of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School for five years and has served as a board member and trustee of one of Harvard’s major teaching hospitals. He also serves in leadership roles at several professional and charitable organizations in the Boston and New York areas, including as an officer of the corporation at the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, Massachusetts, and as special advisor to the CHARGE Syndrome Foundation, an advocacy organization devoted to helping children with complex, life-threatening illnesses. And he has been a frequent speaker at leadership and investment conferences and been featured in Fortune magazine and on CNBC’s Power and Money.
